WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKE-UP?

Permanent makeup is a form of cosmetic tattooing also known as micropigmentation. Pharmaceutical grade pigments are applied into the second layer of the skin to create a beautiful colour that resembles perfectly applied make up.

Who benefits from Semi-permanent makeup/cosmetic tattoo?

  • Both men and women can benefit from semi-permanent makeup
  • People who don’t want to spend their time applying makeup such as mums and busy professionals
  • People who need to look good every day for work and are expected to maintain a certain level of grooming
  • People who enjoy sports, swimming and the beach
  • Those suffering alopecia and hair loss from medical treatment
  • Those who suffer bad eyesight who have trouble applying makeup

What does the Cosmetic Tattooing process involve?

The cosmetic tattoo procedure involves depositing pigment into the skin, using a small pen-style machine which rapidly inserts small quantities of the appropriate colour pigment progressively in the required area with the expertise of a competent and skilled professional.

How long does it last?

There is no definitive answer to this one – it is dependent on many factors, such as:

  • • the pigment used – darker pigments i.e. black and very dark brown last a lot longer than lighter shades.
  • • The density of pigment – i.e. a treatment that has been reinforced with a second adjustment appointment will usually be longer lasting
  • • Environmental factors such as exposure to UV light. Tanning and not using sun protection will fade your semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo faster
  • • Your health and overall individual physiology – some people retain pigment extremely well

Generally, the treatment is considered permanent; in many cases you will always have some pigment in the skin.A top up is recommended every 12-18 months to keep the colour looking fresh

Does it hurt?

The pain is minimised as much as possible by using a topical anaesthetic. You can then relax and this allows proper insertion of the pigment. You may feel a mild discomfort, similar to an annoying scratch.

Can I bring somebody with me?

Yes you can bring one person with you, it’s quite nice to bring along a friend, family member or partner and they can stay in the room with us, or leave for a time.   Please let me know if you are bringing someone along.  I reserve the right to ask your guest to leave if the session is becoming distracting or if I feel they are influencing a decision your not entirely happy with, this is your makeup and you have to be the one to wear it.

No one under 18 years old is allowed during a tattoo appointment.

Why is it important to attend my 2nd/adjustment appointment?

In my experience two appointments are necessary to create long-lasting brows, particularly for the hair stroke technique. In the first appointment, a shape is established, colour saturation occurs, or the first set of hair-stokes. The second appointment reinforces the pigment (fill any spots where colour did not take as well, or where hair-strokes faded, as they can do), often using a slightly darker colour, to give a more realistic, 3D appearance. Sometimes, for eyeliner, minor swelling can occur, and a second appointment is needed to make minor shape adjustments to complete the final look.

You don’t have to come to you second appointment if you feel it’s unnecessary. However, I highly recommend it, particularly in the case of hair stroke brows. They will last longer if you come in a second time – and there is no extra charge for this. I want you to be walking around with the best set of brows that I can give you – and ones that last a reasonably good length of time!

Can I have eyelash extensions with semi-permanent eyeliner tattoo?

Yes, you can wear them simultaneously, but you must have your eyelash extensions removed a few days prior to your eyeliner treatment. It is then important to wait approximately 3-4 weeks for complete healing to occur, before you can reapply your eyelash extensions. Given that now you'll wake up made up and beautiful every day, we think that it's worth the wait!
